Superorganism performed at Union Transfer in Philly on Thursday, 9/13 – they’re currently touring in support of their self-titled debut LP released this past March. Sub Pop artist Yuno was the opener.

Yuno played through most of his Sub Pop debut EP Moodie and even mixed in a cover of Smash Mouth’s (yes, that Smash Mouth) “All Star”. He finished out his set with debut single “No Going Back” and encouraged the crowd to back him up on the chorus… la la la la la la la la la la la la laaaa! He’ll be continuing on tour with Superorganism through the end of the month then heading off to Europe to play some dates with Unknown Mortal Orchestra.

Before taking the stage, Superorganism played a video explaining the whereabouts of Robert Strange (1/8 of and visual artist behind Superorganism) – not appearing on stage, he has apparently “already become one with the internet” and the show was to be a “digital representation of his consciousness”. If you weren’t aware, this level of trippiness is de rigueur in the outlandish world of Superorganism. During an interlude, frontwoman Orono Noguchi charmed the audience with some random banter (one being about a too shortly cut toenail) and audience Q&A. She also spoke of a past Weezer fan-letter exchange and excitedly shared with the crowd that Rivers Cuomo follows the band on Twitter (I’d watch out there, Orono). They invited members of the audience to join them on stage for their encore, which resulted in a minor stampede of people wanting to get on stage. After their set, Orono graciously took some time for photos and autographs for most of the crowd from the stage. See their full setlist below, as well as their official video for “Something For Your M.I.N.D.”.
