Adjacent Fest Day 2 featuring Japanese Breakfast and more

Read previousDay 1 of Adjacent Fest

After an eventful Day 1, we took a deliberately relaxed approach to the 2nd day of Adjacent Fest. After catching Oxymorrons and Soul Glo on the Boot stage, we found ourselves a nice spot by the water and took in the beautiful weather for a good chunk of the rest of afternoon. As 5pm approached, we made our way toward the main stage to secure a good spot for Japanese Breakfast. While I’ve already seen Japanese Breakfast on numerous occasions, their performance at Adjacent Fest was my first time seeing them perform along with visuals (projected on the jumbotron). I genuinely shed tears during “The Body Is A Blade”, as photos from throughout Michelle Zauner’s childhood flashed on the screen (an ode to her late mother). We also realized we were standing right next to Zauner’s in-laws, after she pointed them out from the stage – I should’ve known as they were the cutest in their show of excitement and support (and frequent shout-outs to guitarist/son Peter Bradley). After that, we wandered back over to small stage to catch The Front Bottoms. Playing in their home state, the area was already jam-packed ahead of their set – marking the 10-year anniversary of Talon of the Hawk, they performed the album in its entirety as the crowd sang along in unison to every lyric. As The Front Bottoms wrapped up their set, I decided “I’m good” and skipped out on the rest of the festival (because I’m old). Check out my photos from Day 2 below and, if you missed it, see our Day 1 coverage here.
