Angel Olsen played White Eagle Hall in Jersey City on Monday, February 6th. Touring in support of her outstanding 2022 album Big Time, I was so excited to hear that she’d be making a stop at one of my favorite venues. Her powerful voice accompanied by The Big Time Band was all anyone could need on a Monday night. Olsen’s banter with the audience also made for a great show. The crowd yelled out things like “Jersey Girls love you” as Olsen told everyone she just finished watching the Sopranos and was excited to be in Jersey City. She made the audience laugh and opened up her setlist to requests.
Olsen performed an array of songs dating back to her album Burn Your Fire for No Witness like “Forgiven/Forgotten”. I big time enjoyed when she played Big Time favorites like “Dream Thing”, “Big Time”, “Right Now”, and “Ghost On”. She played her classic song “Shut Up Kiss Me” which was the first song I ever heard of hers. I was also excited to hear songs like “Lark” and “All Mirrors” from her 2019 album All Mirrors. She closed out the show with a cover of Harry Nilsson’s classic love song “Without You”. Overall, it was an amazing night and my favorite Angel Olsen performance to date.
