While much of the past 18 months has been a shit-show, a musical silver lining has been the emergence of MAN ON MAN. The duo, made up of Joey Holman and veteran rocker Roddy Bottum (of Faith No More, Imperial Teen, and others), started playing music together in isolation during the early-pandemic days “for fun”. My introduction to M.O.M. is fairly recent, following the release of “Stohner” (an absolute banger of a rock song) 5 months ago. What followed was my discovery of their music video for “Daddy” (released in May 2020), a slow burner of a rock track and unapologetic celebration of bear-dom. They released their self-titled LP this past May (on Polyvinyl Records) and I’ve been playing it loud and on heavy rotation ever since.
M.O.M. recently recorded a live session at Strange Weather studio in Brooklyn exclusively for KEXP, where they were joined by friends (including Paramore/Hayley Williams bassist Joey Howard). Check out the video and song list below. You can also watch their interview with KEXP DJ Larry Rose here.
No official tour dates have been announced yet; however, they’ll be playing Zone One at Elsewhere in Brooklyn on 8/26 with Macy Rodman and cumgirl8 (tickets here).
