Preview: “Shadow of the City” Music Festival in Asbury Park, NJ

Holy cannoli, we got a super buzzworthy lineup for this year’s “Shadow of the City” music festival! Now in its 4th year, New Jersey’s own Jack Antonoff (of Bleachers, fun., and also a prolific producer & songwriter extraordinaire) brings the 1-day festival back to the Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, NJ on Saturday, 8/25 (tickets here).

Bleachers will headline the festival, with additional performances from Hayley Kiyoko, Julien Baker, Turnover, Beach Slang, Clams Casino, Forth Wanderers, and Ex Reyes.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Hayley Kiyoko (also affectionately known as Lesbian Jesus by her fans) is about to all sorts of blow up! Coming off her tour supporting P!atD and recently appearing on stage with The Queen herself, she’s about to embark on an already-sold out European tour. You’ll wanna catch her live now!

If that’s not enough, the amazing Julien Baker will also be mixing it up – I’m warning you now, you will be sobbing uncontrollably. If you haven’t done so yet (or even if you already have), do yourself a favor and check out her most recent performance on NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert below.

The festival will also include a number of activities like The World Famous SOTC Charity Dunk Tank, food trucks, Inaugural Mario Kart Championship Tournament, Weird NJ, and more of what Jersey has to offer (hopefully, that includes some pork roll).

Lastly (and importantly), 1$ per each ticket sale will be donated to The Ally Coalition, an organization that raises awareness in support of homeless LGBTQ youth and LGBTQ equality. Again, more details and tickets here.
