Read previous – Flemington DIY grand reopening show
In celebration of their 10th year in the borough, Flemington DIY hosted its DECADE OF DIY event on Saturday, May 18th. The all-day event featured flash tattoos at neighbor Diamond Heart Studios, as well as the release of Decadent Decade IPA by Lone Eagle Brewing. The event was capped off by a night of live music (featuring Classic Traffic, Shalom, and BODEGA) and comedy by Jersey’s own Chris Gethard.
I wasn’t able to stay for the whole event, but I was lucky enough to catch indie artist Shalom’s set. Cutting her teeth in the New Brunswick DIY scene, she released her excellent debut LP Sublimation in 2023 via Saddle Creek Records. She has since split with the label, but just released a 3-song EP titled Sativa. An emotional highlight of Shalom’s set was her performance of “Concrete” (stream below), where she led the crowd in a singalong for the song’s outro. You can catch her again this July when she’ll be playing a show at PhilaMOCA with Queen of Jeans (tickets here) – see all of Shalom’s upcoming show dates and other news here.
