Head In The Clouds, the annual festival organized by 88rising, brought its inaugural East Coast edition to Forest Hills Stadium in Queens. The 2-day event, held during AAPI Heritage Month, occurred on May 20-21 and featured 88rising artists Rich Brian, MILLI, and NIKI, as well as other celebrated artists across the Asian diaspora like beabadoobee, Raveena, ITZY, and XG. It also featured a fantastic selection of Asian food vendors – we got the lumpia from Patok by RACH and it tasted just like home. We were there for the rainy first day of the festival – we stayed at the main stage the whole time, mainly because the rain was miserable and we didn’t feel like moving. I was soaked to the bone within minutes, but it was an incredible event. I took a few photos from the crowd with my trusty point-and-shoot, but the rain kept me from getting shots of all the performers (i.e., Warren Hue and MILLI) – you can check out my photos below.
The West Coast/LA version of Head In The Clouds will be happening this August – the full lineup has not yet been announced, but NIKI, Rina Sawayama, and XG have been confirmed. More info and passes available here.
