Alternative/indie pop act Dayglow (the project of songwriter-musician Sloan Struble) is currently touring in support of their recently released LP People In Motion. Playing to a sold out crowd at The Fillmore Philly, they had the audience dancing like I’ve never seen before. With 11 tracks and clocking in at nearly 40 minutes, People In Motion has an ’80s-type vibe that makes you want to get up and move.
Opening for Dayglow was Ritt Momney (the musical project of singer-songwriter Jack Rutter). He performed his famous cover of “Put Your Records On” and everyone in the venue sang along. His band played an amazing set that got the crowd primed for Dayglow’s performance.
At 9 pm sharp, Dayglow emerged dressed in all white and instantly their energy was through the roof as they opened with People In Motion track “Radio”. On People In Motion, they experiment more with synth and electronic melodies. While a lot of their songs are about growing pains and failed relationships, I love how the upbeat sound deceives the troubled lyrics. Everywhere I looked on the stage the band was constantly in motion, jumping up and down and feeling the music. Furthermore, Struble’s vocal range is amazing and fits well with his unique musical style. The climax of their set came when they performed their most popular track “Can I Call You Tonight” from their 2018 debut LP Fuzzybrain.
The North American leg of Dayglow’s People In Motion tour has already wrapped up, but they’ll be hitting dates across the pond in the UK/EU into next year. See all of their upcoming tour dates here.
