Photos: Grace Vonderkuhn & JessX at PhilaMOCA

Delaware-based Grace Vonderkuhn is a band that’s been on my list to catch live, ever since the release of their sophomore LP Pleasure Pain last summer. The lead/title track (official audio below) is exactly the type of grunge-y rock that I’m all about, but it’s garage/punk tracks like “Put It on Me” and “Rock & Roll Gary” that carry the album. While their studio recordings are perfectly fine, this is a band that absolutely shreds live.

Being that a 4-band concert bill is about 2 bands too many in my book, I’m glad I stuck around for JessX. Fronted by Brooklyn-based (via Oahu) Jess Rosa, their live show is bratty and rowdy as all hell. I swear I saw a pogo stick on the stage during their set, but no pogo stick antics ensued. For that, check out JessX’s music video for “MFL” from their debut LP Baby Faced. Keep scrolling below to see more photos from the show.
