Big time NJ music festival announcement! The inaugural Frantic City music festival will be taking place at the Orange Loop Amphitheater in Atlantic City, NJ on September 24th. Co-created by esteemed WFMU DJ/live music promoter Todd Abramson, the stellar line-up features a triple-header of Matador Records artists Car Seat Headrest, Yo La Tengo, and Snail Mail, as well as Murder City Devils, Shannon and The Clams, Rocket From The Crypt, Superchunk, The Raveonettes, Samiam, Titus Andronicus, Protomartyr, and Control Top! Oh, and Fred Armisen is hosting.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, April 15th so make sure jump on over here with the quickness, especially if you plan on snagging early bird GA or VIP tix. Regarding the impetus behind Frantic City, Todd Abramson stated “obviously, it starts with the stellar line-up but beyond that I think we are aiming to make it very comfortable and we are also being very considerate when it comes to the audience’s needs in terms of food and culture. We want to grow this festival by not only getting the repeat business of people who attend this September but we also want those individuals to tell all their friends about what they missed.” There will also be a “merch concierge”, which I’m intrigued to learn what that’s all about. With the choice between Sea.Hear.Now (occurring the week before in Asbury Park) and Frantic City, it’s an easy choice (for me) to opt for the latter. With such an impressive line-up in its inaugural year, I’m excited for what’s to come in the future. See you there!
