Vagabon plays a sold out show at Brooklyn Made as part of brief four-city US tour

I ventured into Brooklyn on Friday, 11/19 to attend the sold out Vagabon show at Brooklyn Made. It was my first time at this new venue – it’s a pretty sweet concert hall and they even let us in early on what ended up being a cold night. We were able to hang out in the lobby and hear Angelica Garcia’s sound check. The stage at BM has a 70’s aesthetic and the sound/acoustics were worth the crazy drive from Jersey to get there.

Vagabon (the stage name of singer-songwriter-producer Laetitia Tamko) is super new to me. Her music came highly recommended and I did my homework before the show and listened to her latest self-titled release. I ended up listening to it on repeat throughout the week prior and I just really love her voice and the chill lounge-y sound of her self-produced songs.

Angélica Garcia is also an artist I hadn’t heard of prior. Her performance on Friday received tons of love. She creates her music right in front of you with voice loops and beats. I especially loved the song “Llorona” from her latest EP Echo Eléctrico. Her voice is powerful as it bellowed in the small space among the silent audience.

Vagabon’s performance was intertwined with appreciation for her fans that sold out the show. She modestly continued to thank the audience as she gave us such an emotional performance. At one point, Tamko dedicated a song to someone very important in her life which led her to shed a few tears. It was one of those moments in a live show where you get chills from a song.

She performed a few songs I recognized like “Full Moon In Gemini”, “Every Woman” and “Water Me Down”. She introduced me to her earlier album Infinite Worlds with the songs “Cold Apartment” and “Fear and Force” which stuck out to me and accompanied me on the drive back to Jerz. As usual, Brooklyn didn’t let me down.

Earlier this year, Vagabon released a cover of “Reason to Believe” featuring Courtney Barnett. Check out that video below and keep scrolling to see more photos from the show.
