Read previous – Cautious Clay @ The Foundry
Cautious Clay (the recording/stage name of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist/producer Josh Karpeh) wrapped up his international Context Tour (named after his latest EP, Table of Context) with a final stop at Union Transfer in Philly on Saturday, December 14th. The last time he was in town was in February when he played a sold out show at the much smaller Foundry at The Fillmore (check out our coverage here). Since then, in addition to touring, he’s racked up some high profile co-writing creds with the likes of John Mayer and AMA Artist of the Decade Taylor Swift (on separate collaborations, of course). With Mayer, Karpeh co-wrote and -produced the track “Swim Home” – the track is featured on the “13 Reasons Why” season 3 soundtrack. Watch Karpeh and Mayer perform that song together below from a recent concert at The Fonda Theatre in LA. With Swift, Cautious Clay picked up a co-writing cred on the track “London Boy” (featured on Lover, the biggest selling US album of the year). On that track, Swift interpolates the rhythm from Cautious Clay 2017 banger “Cold War“.
Cautious Clay will be heading back to the studio in 2020 to work on his follow-up to Table of Context. They closed out the night with a teaser of what is likely to come with a funky new track titled “Shook”.
