Oso Oso and Diva Sweetly @ Flemington DIY (2/14/2019)

Oso Oso and Diva Sweetly graced small-town Central Jersey with a super-intimate all-ages show at Flemington DIY on February 14th. Having full knowledge that Oso Oso is an A+ tier band in Super Sad Emos Ultimate, I was shocked by the relatively scant audience turnout right in my (figurative) backyard of Flemington, NJ. Regardless, Oso Oso played an amazing set which included songs from their excellent the yunahon mixtape LP which gives me vibes of Clarity-era Jimmy Eat World and early-2000s indie rock from when music blogs ruled the universe. Watch their performance of “reindeer games” from their 2017 Audiotree session below.

North Carolina upstarts Diva (Bread Bowls Forever) Sweetly bring the hooks on their debut LP In The Living Room, which features their incredibly catchy debut track “Detox Island“. Keyboard stands be damned, singer/synthesizer-ist Karly Hartzman played her microKORG handheld during their set while dueling/harmonizing with singer/drummer Daniel Gorham. Fun times, indeed.
