Eight member UK collective Superorganism will be playing at Union Transfer in Philly on Thursday, September 13th (tickets here). The band is currently touring in support of their wonderfully poppy and eclectic self-titled debut LP released this past March.
Living commune style in east London, I can only imagine their recording and living situation to be like a modern day version of The Monkees. Their songs and music videos are trippy technicolor affairs with a hint of terrifying undertone (like watching something produced by Tim and Eric). The zaniness levels are kept in check by the vocal delivery of frontwoman Orono Noguchi, whose wink-wink deadpan delivery is a contrast to the dancing and tambourine playing that occurs around her on stage. There’s a lot of intricate production going on in their tracks, which becomes apparent after multiple listens – their catchy and danceable melodies also beg to be remixed (listen to a recent remix of “Night Time” here). Below is the official music video for their breakout track, “Everybody Wants To Be Famous”. See all of their upcoming tour dates (in glorious Comic Sans font) here.
