Holy freakin’ big-time buzz band! The Neighbourhood performed at Union Transfer in Philly on Tuesday, 6/25 (The 1975 opened). The show was originally scheduled to take place at Johnny Brenda’s; however, due to overwhelming demand, was switched to the much larger venue. The California-based group have just released their debut LP I Love You. (listen on Spotify), but that hasn’t precluded them from already playing some pretty major gigs on the festival circuit (see all of their upcoming tour dates here). They’re best known for the track “Sweater Weather” (watch official music video below) and frontman Jesse Rutherford makes the “hoodlum” girls in the audience fawn like it was a ‘N Sync concert circa 2000.
Openers The 1975 are riding their own wave of buzz, largely due to the extremely catchy and ubiquitous track “Sex” (watch the official music video here). Hailing from the land of The Smiths (that would be Manchester, UK), they’re set to release their self-titled debut album in the fall and are currently traversing the world on an extended tour. FYI, they’ll be back at Union Transfer this October. See all of their upcoming tour dates here.
