Husband-and-wife duo Mates of State performed at Underground Arts in Philly on Thursday, 6/13 (Alec Ounsworth of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah was the opener). MoS is currently supporting The Postal Service on select dates of their North American tour, but they’re also playing some headlining shows along the way. FYI, I adore everything about this band. Watch this Tiny Desk Concert they performed for NPR Music and that pretty much sums up why. The simplicity of keys plus drums augmented by the complexity of male/female vocal harmonies and counterpoint, the cutesy gazes, the sing-along choruses… I love it all. Not to mention, they also appeared in an episode of Yo Gabba Gabba (I am a dad, after all). Below is their official music video for “Palomino” from their most recent LP Mountaintops.
