Holy freakin’ epic free block party! For the second Summer Block Party of the year at The Piazza, the fine folks at Radio 104.5 broke out the big guns with a headlining act by indie rock megastars Metric. Also on the bill were indie pop up-and-comers Royal Teeth, as well as local Philly quintet Goodnight Lights.
Metric is currently touring in support of their 2012 LP Synthetica (listen on Spotify), their follow-up to 2009’s hugely popular Fantasies. Since then, they’ve also contributed to and/or collaborated on numerous film soundtracks including Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Cosmopolis. Royal Teeth is set to release their debut LP Glow this coming August on Dangerbird Records. You’re probably already familiar with their infectiously irresistible and summery track “Wild” (from their 2012 EP Act Naturally), which is currently getting heavy radio play on 104.5.
