He’s My Brother She’s My Sister performed at the North Star Bar in Philly on 5/7 (singer/songwriter and comic book artist Jeffrey Lewis was the opener). HMBSMS is currently touring in support of their latest album Nobody Dances In This Town (listen on Spotify). Nobody Dances In This Town is usually an apt description for any given night at a Philadelphia concert venue; however, not tonight at the North Star Bar, which was in full on dance mode. Guitarist/vocalist Rob Kolar (brother of vocalist Rachel Kolar – get it?) said that the crowd that gathered was the largest they had played in Philly (not bad for a rainy Tuesday night). The band even invited a couple of fans on stage with them – one because it was his birthday and the other because she’s apparently the ultimate HMBSMS super-fan (see photos below). Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes that’s tap-dancing drummer (Lauren Brown) – swoooooon!
They mentioned they’ll be back in the area for the Firefly Music Festival, but no official announcement has been made yet (as far as I know). You can see all of their upcoming tour dates here. Below is a video of HMBSMS performing crowd favorite “How I’m Gonna Get Back Home Tonight” from their 2010 self-titled EP. Also, check out their brand new music video for “The Same Old Ground” from Nobody Dances In This Town here.
