In conjunction with the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts (PIFA), Dan Deacon will be playing a very special show at the Perelman Theater (located in the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts) this Friday, April 12th at 8:30pm. Tickets for the show are currently still available and can be purchased here.
Dan Deacon will be performing portions of the “USA suite” from his most recently released LP America (listen on Spotify), which is a significant evolution (i.e., more “arty” less “party”) from his critically acclaimed 2007 breakout LP Spiderman of the Rings. As an added bonus, the show will involve audience participation via the Dan Deacon smartphone app (available for free on Android and iTunes) to create a unique synchronized light show of super highbrow proportions. Come prepared and make sure to download it before the show.
Below is Dan Deacon’s official music video for “Crash Jam” from America. The best way for me to describe it is as a Clint Mansell meets P90X electronic dance party. Not to worry, though – the rest of the album doesn’t evoke such similar (i.e., scary) imagery. Make yourself feel better and go here to see the music video for “True Thrush”. Ah, now isn’t that better?
