Sky Ferreira, How To Dress Well, and High Highs performed at Johnny Brenda’s in Philly on 3/23. Sky Ferreira and How To Dress Well were billed as co-headliners, but the model/singer closed out the night. It was an eclectic lineup starting with Australian duo High Highs. High Highs just released their debut LP Open Season – watch the official music video for the track “Open Season” here and listen to the whole album on Spotify. FYI, for the pop-culture trivia junkies, you might recognize “Open Season” from a scene in the movie Pitch Perfect.
If you’re unfamiliar with How To Dress Well (stage name of Tom Krell), you just might not believe that his music fits within the genre of R&B. Give a listen and you’ll soon realize that his brand of experimental R&B is completely (beyond) legit. His LPs Love Remains (his debut) and Total Loss have both garnered “Best New Music” on Pitchfork. You can listen to both of those albums on Spotify – you can also watch the official music video for the track “Cold Nites” (from Total Loss) here.
Even though it was a short set, Sky Ferreira made her full range of pop influences apparent and even performed several yet unreleased tracks that will likely be included on her future debut LP. Below is the official music video for “Everything Is Embarrassing” featured on her Ghost EP – listen to the Ghost EP, as well as remixes for “Everything Is Embarrassing” and “One”, on Spotify.
