The Wood Brothers performed to a packed house at Triumph Brewing Company in New Hope, PA on 2/26 (read show preview here). Rayland Baxter opened the show and played a fantastic stripped-down set. He just finished touring with Grace Potter & the Nocturnals and also recently released his debut LP, Feathers & Fishhooks (on ATO Records) – definitely worth checking out.
Joined by Jano Rix on drums and shuitar (and harmonies), The Wood Brothers played a nearly 2 hour set to an “eclectic” suburban crowd. If you’re unfamiliar with The Wood Brothers, below is a recent recording of them performing “Shoofly Pie” backstage at the Rio Theatre in Vancouver. Their sound is hard to categorize; however, while watching them perform live, it puts you in the sort of upbeat mood where you don’t care that you’re getting beer spilled on you from every angle. You can listen to their entire catalog on Spotify, which includes 2 live albums released in 2012 – these albums are an accurate representation of their live sound, but they’re even more impressive experienced in person.
